A Proven Solution
Tailored to Your Operations
 |
By offering a
variety of modules and configurations, CAPS Spectrum
can bring the efficiencies of computer-assisted picking to
any distribution center. Engineers analyze each customer's
needs and design the optimum, integrated solution for any
mix: fast to slow movers, small to large products, split
case and full case picking.
Flush-mount pick modules are easy to read, soft on the
eyes, and tough on the rigors of the warehouse
environment.
Multiple
functions in a single system solution
A variety of system functions provide a cost-effective
solution for each area of your warehouse

SKUs: Total Function

|
Total
Function (Pick-to-Display)
The CAPS Total Function pick-to-display system shown above
and on the right sets the benchmark for speed and accuracy
in fast-moving items. CAPS "Pick-To-Display"
technology lights all appropriate SKUs in the bay at the
outset of each order. The pick module displays the
quantity right at each facing-rather than at a central bay
location. The picker takes the most efficient path to fill
the order, with less searching time.

 |
 |
Matrix
Function and Aisle Director (Pick-to-Address)
Designed for inventory racks and static shelves, this
economical system brings the reliability and cost
efficiencies of integrated automation to slow moving
items. Horizontal or vertical light bars, mounted on bays,
indicate the SKU address and quantity. Also available as
overhead "Aisle Director" for long rows of
static shelving or pallet rack.
|
|
Basic
Function (Pick-to-Light)
A very cost-effective solution for picking among a large
number of low-to-medium-activity SKUs. The Bay Lamp
indicates the bay or aisle. The Territory Controller on
each bay displays the current order number and quantity to
be picked. The red blinking beacon on the PICK INDICATOR
at the front of each SKU indicates where to pick. When the
pick is completed, the picker pushes the button to
extinguish that light, and moves on to the next SKU.

System
Layout
Computer animations are often used as we design CAPS
applications and develop CAPS Profiling®
strategies for stocking, SKU arrangement, and product
flow.
|
Easy
Installation & Integration
CAPS utilizes standard telephone cable rather than
complex, expensive ribbon cable needed by other systems.
CAPS can run on one server to fit the needs of each fast,
medium and slow moving SKU with one fully integrated
system.
|
|
Flexibility
CAPS is modified to changing layouts and needs. It can
support a single pick line or several independent pick
lines. Within each line you can have a single zone or many
zones. They can be arranged serially, in parallel, or in
any combination. Changes to zone size and structure are
made quickly and easily at the system console or remote
terminal.
|
Zone
Independence
Because work loads vary from zone to zone and order to
order, the cornerstone of CAPS software design is zone
independence. CAPS buffers or queues orders between zones,
creating an "accordion effect". Pickers aren't
held up waiting for orders to be completed in other zones.
|
|
Troubleshooting
Installation, testing, and troubleshooting are
accomplished in a fraction of the time it takes other
systems. CAPS software can interface with virtually any
warehouse management or business system software.
|
Improved
Diagnostics
Diagnostics are simpler than ever. Most problems can be
quickly identified and solved through "on-board
diagnostics" built into the circuitry and segmented
by bay.
|
|
Management
Controls
CAPS offers a wide range of reporting and analytical tools
to help maximize management control and picker
productivity.

Research &
Development, Service and Support
CAPS Technical Center
Research, design, engineering, sales, support, and training for
CAPS Spectrum computer-assisted picking technology are spearheaded
at Kingway's Technical Center in seacoast New Hampshire.
 |
Testing
Components are tested for reliability and durability
before they become part of CAPS. For example, order
confirmation buttons are designed and confirmed to surpass
10,000,000 cycles.
